Taxonomy

Collection 1000327 (herbarium acc. no. MICH 10734) is Hebeloma velatum. It is the holotype of heterotypic synonym Hebeloma bicoloratum var. coloradense A.H. Sm., V.S. Evenson & Mitchel (1983).

    Collection 1000327 was collected by A.H. Smith, H.D. Thiers (89594) on 29th July 1979 in Pitkin County, Elk Camp, Colorado, UNITED STATES (approx. 39.1875°N, 106.9352°W, altitude approximately 3000 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Pinaceae (genus Picea) was present.

    The surrounding habitat was described as coniferous, subalpine woodland, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules.
