Collecting details

Collection 10366 was collected by H.J. Beker on 19th October 2004 in Foret de Soignes, Brussels, BELGIUM (50.7641°N, 4.4267°E, altitude approximately 65 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Betulaceae (genus Carpinus) was present.
The surrounding habitat was described as deciduous woodland with a substrate of calcareous, decomposed soil and litter, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules. Cortina present: no.
Pileus: 40–50 mm diameter; shape convex; margin characters reflexed; viscosity tacky when moist; spotting no; hygrophanous no; colour variation two-colour; with colour at centre dark pinkish buff; and colour at margin cream; with remains of universal veil no.
Lamellae: attachment emarginate; maximum depth up to 4 mm; number of complete lamellae 62; tears absent; white fimbriate edge present.
Stipe: 50 x 7 {median} x 12 {basal} mm; stipe Q 7.1; base clavate; floccosity floccose; rooting no; mycelial chords no.
Context: texture firm; stipe interior hollow, superior wick; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 8.9; smell raphanoid; taste bitter.

Exsiccata: dark.
