Collection 1000414 (herbarium acc. no. MICH 5552) is Hebeloma velutipes. It is the holotype of heterotypic synonym Hebeloma latisporum A.H. Sm., V.S. Evenson & Mitchel (1983).Description

Collection 1000414 was collected by A.H. Smith (55278) on 22nd October 1956 in Bonner, Priest Lake , Idaho, UNITED STATES (approx. 48.588°N, 116.8669°W, altitude approximately 750 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Pinaceae (genus Tsuga) was present.
The surrounding habitat was described as coniferous woodland, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules. Pileus: 20–80 mm diameter; shape convex; margin characters not recorded; viscosity tacky when moist; spotting yes; hygrophanous no; colour variation unicolor; with colour at centre pinkish buff; and colour at margin not recorded; with remains of universal veil not recorded.
Lamellae: attachment adnate; maximum depth not recorded; number of complete lamellae 70; tears absent; white fimbriate edge present.
Stipe: 50–80 x 10 {median} x 13–15 {basal} mm; stipe Q 5.0–8.0; base clavate, cylindrical; floccosity fibrillose, velute; rooting no; mycelial chords no.
Context: texture firm; stipe interior stuffed; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 7.1; smell raphanoid; taste raphanoid.
