Taxonomy

Collection 1000481 (herbarium acc. no. MICH 10801) is Hebeloma discomorbidum. It is the holotype of heterotypic synonym Hebeloma subboreale A.H. Sm., V.S. Evenson & Mitchel (1983).

    Collection 1000481 was collected by A.H. Smith (89006) on 16th August 1978 in Elk Camp area, Pitkin County, Colorado, UNITED STATES (approx. 39.1875°N, 106.9352°W, altitude approximately 3000 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Pinaceae (genera Abies and Picea) was present.

    The surrounding habitat was described as coniferous, subalpine woodland, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules.     Lamellae: attachment adnate; maximum depth not recorded; number of complete lamellae 39; tears absent; white fimbriate edge not recorded.

    Stipe: 20–40 x 1–2 {median} x 1–2 {basal} mm; stipe Q 13.3–16.0; base cylindrical; floccosity fibrillose; rooting no; mycelial chords no.

    Context: texture firm; stipe interior not recorded; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 15.1; smell none; taste none.

    Spore deposit colour: yellowish brown.

    Exsiccata: analysis not yet complete.
