Taxonomy

Collection 1000454 (herbarium acc. no. MICH 10782) is Hebeloma discomorbidum. It is the holotype of heterotypic synonym Hebeloma oregonense var. atrobrunneum A.H. Sm., V.S. Evenson & Mitchel (1983).

    Collection 1000454 was collected by A.H. Smith (89268) on 2nd September 1978 in Elk Camp, Pitkin County, Colorado, UNITED STATES (approx. 39.1875°N, 106.9352°W, altitude approximately 3000 m above sea level - Google maps). No ectomycorrhizal plants were recorded.

    The surrounding habitat was described as coniferous, subalpine woodland, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules.     Stipe: 25–40 x 3–6 {median} x 3–6 {basal} mm; stipe Q 6.7–8.3; base cylindrical; floccosity not recorded; rooting no; mycelial chords no.

    Context: texture firm; stipe interior not recorded; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 9.0; smell not recorded; taste mild.
