Taxonomy

Collection 1000418 (herbarium acc. no. MICH 10762) is Hebeloma discomorbidum. It is the holotype of heterotypic synonym Hebeloma lutescentipes A.H. Sm., V.S. Evenson & Mitchel (1983).

    Collection 1000418 was collected by A.H. Smith (24018) on 3rd October 1946 in Clackamas, east fork of Salmon River, Mt Hood National Forest, Oregon, UNITED STATES (approx. 45.2737°N, 121.7203°W, altitude approximately 1070 m above sea level - Google maps). No ectomycorrhizal plants were recorded.

    The surrounding habitat was described as boreal woodland pondside with a substrate of litter, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules.     Pileus: 20–35 mm diameter; shape convex, umbonate; margin characters not recorded; viscosity tacky when moist; spotting no; hygrophanous no; colour variation two-colour; with colour at centre brownish olive; and colour at margin clay-buff; with remains of universal veil not recorded.

    Lamellae: attachment adnexed; maximum depth not recorded; number of complete lamellae 44; tears absent; white fimbriate edge not recorded.

    Stipe: 50–70 x 4–5 {median} x 4–5 {basal} mm; stipe Q 12.5–14.0; base cylindrical; floccosity floccose at apex; rooting no; mycelial chords no.

    Context: texture firm; stipe interior not recorded; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 29.6; smell not recorded; taste mild.

    Basidia: 25.0–34.4 x 7.7–10.0 μm; ave. Q = 3.6; basidia spore nature not recorded.

    Cheilocystidia: main shape cylindrical, lageniform, ventricose; special features septa; Cheilocystidia Ratios: A/M = 1.06; A/B = 0.60; B/M = 1.86.

    Pleurocystidia: no.
