Collection 14691 was collected by R. Lebeuf on 19th September 2015 in Linville Falls, North Carolina, UNITED STATES (approx. 35.9499°N, 81.9304°W, altitude approximately 1000 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Betulaceae (genus Betula) was present.
The surrounding habitat was described as deciduous woodland, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules. Pileus: 20–22 mm diameter; shape convex; margin characters overhanging pileus, smooth; viscosity tacky when moist; spotting no; hygrophanous no; colour variation two-colour; with colour at centre cinnamon; and colour at margin cream; with remains of universal veil yes.
Lamellae: attachment emarginate; maximum depth up to 3 mm; number of complete lamellae 42; tears absent; white fimbriate edge weak.
Stipe: 45–48 x 4 {median} x 4 {basal} mm; stipe Q 10.0–12.0; base cylindrical; floccosity fibrillose; rooting no; mycelial chords no.
Context: texture firm; stipe interior hollow; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 24.6; smell raphanoid weakly; taste not recorded.
