Collection 1000139 (herbarium acc. no. DBG-F-007948) is Hebeloma excedens. It is the holotype of heterotypic synonym Hebeloma evensoniae A.H. Sm. & Mitchel, in Smith, Evenson & Mitchel (1983).Description

Collection 1000139 was collected by V.S. Evenson, det: A.H. Smith on 22nd May 1979 in Poorman Gravel Pit, Sunshine Canyon, Boulder Co., Colorado, UNITED STATES (approx. 40.0374°N, 105.3288°W, altitude approximately 2010 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Salicaceae (genus Populus) was present.
The surrounding habitat was described as deciduous quarry with a substrate of decomposed litter, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules. Pileus: 20–40 mm diameter; shape convex, umbonate broadly; margin characters not recorded; viscosity tacky when moist; spotting no; hygrophanous no; colour variation two-colour; with colour at centre not recorded; and colour at margin cinnamon, clay-buff; with remains of universal veil yes.
Lamellae: attachment adnate; maximum depth not recorded; number of complete lamellae 48; tears absent; white fimbriate edge not recorded.
Stipe: 30–85 x 4–8 {median} x 3–5 {basal} mm; stipe Q 7.5–10.6; base cylindrical, tapering; floccosity fibrillose, floccose at apex, pruinose at apex; rooting yes; mycelial chords no.
Context: texture firm; stipe interior hollow; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 16.9; smell raphanoid, raphanoid strongly; taste raphanoid, raphanoid strongly.

Exsiccata: normal.
