Collecting details

Collection 17341 was collected by R.L. Pastorino (RLP-9-12-17E) on 12th September 2017 in Yuba Pass, Tahoe National Forest, Sierra Co., California, UNITED STATES (approx. 39.604°N, 120.5466°W, altitude approximately 2200 m above sea level - Google maps). No ectomycorrhizal plants were recorded.
The surrounding habitat was described as subalpine woodland with a substrate of grassy soil, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules. Cortina present: no.
Pileus: up to 45 mm diameter; shape umbonate weakly; margin characters eroded; viscosity tacky when moist; spotting not recorded; hygrophanous not recorded; colour variation unicolor; with colour at centre yellowish brown; and colour at margin not recorded; with remains of universal veil not recorded.
Lamellae: attachment emarginate; maximum depth not recorded; number of complete lamellae 50; tears absent; white fimbriate edge present.
Stipe: 53 x 6 {median} x 8 {basal} mm; stipe Q 8.2; base clavate; floccosity pruinose at apex; rooting no; mycelial chords no.
Context: texture firm; stipe interior hollow; stipe flesh discolouring from base no; slenderness measure 9.6; smell none; taste not recorded.

Spores: shape amygdaloid; colour through microscope not recorded; guttulate not recorded; papillate yes; Spore Code: O3; P1; P2; D1; D2.
Basidia: 31.6–36.4 x 7.9–10.6 μm; ave. Q = 3.6; basidia spore nature not recorded.
Cheilocystidia: main shape clavate-stipitate, clavate-lageniform or clavate-ventricose; special features median thickening, septa; Cheilocystidia Ratios: A/M = 1.83; A/B = 1.17; B/M = 1.60.
Pleurocystidia: no.
