Taxonomy

Collection 1000126 (herbarium acc. no. GLM GL62320) is Hebeloma mesophaeum. It is the holotype of heterotypic synonym Hebeloma mesophaeum var. crassipes Vesterh. (1989).

Collecting details

Collection 1000126 was collected by J. Vesterholt, B. Dybkjær, E. Dybkjær (JV-86-862), det: J. Vesterholt on 19th October 1986 in Praesto Fed, SZ, DENMARK (approx. 55.12°N, 12.04°E, altitude approximately 0 m above sea level - Google maps). No ectomycorrhizal plants were recorded.
The surrounding habitat was described as not recorded.

Lamellae: attachment emarginate; maximum depth not recorded; number of complete lamellae 40; tears absent; white fimbriate edge weak.
Stipe: 35–60 x 4–8 {median} x 4–8 {basal} mm; stipe Q 7.5–8.8; base cylindrical; floccosity not recorded; rooting not recorded; mycelial chords not recorded.
Context: texture firm; stipe interior not recorded; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 11.5; smell raphanoid weakly; taste raphanoid weakly.
Spore deposit colour: analysis not yet complete.
Exsiccata: pale.

Cheilocystidia: main shape lageniform, ventricose; special features apical thickening, basal thickening; Cheilocystidia Ratios: A/M = 1.03; A/B = 0.66; B/M = 1.60.

Ixocutis: epicutis thickness (measured from exsiccata) 150 μm; ixocutis maximum hyphae width 5 μm; ixocutis hyphae encrustation yes; shape of trama elements beneath subcutis thickly sausage-shaped.
