Collection 1000511 (herbarium acc. no. DBG-F-007778) is Hebeloma alpinicola. It is an isotype of heterotypic synonym Hebeloma substrophosum A.H. Sm., V.S. Evenson & Mitchel (1983).

    Collection 1000511 was collected by A.H. Smith (87043) on 4th August 1976 in Independence Pass, Pitkin County, Colorado, UNITED STATES (approx. 39.1039°N, 106.5591°W, altitude approximately 3550 m above sea level - Google maps). No ectomycorrhizal plants were recorded.

    The surrounding habitat was described as coniferous, subalpine woodland with a substrate of soil, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules.     Stipe: 60–100 x 8–13 {median} x 8–12 {basal} mm; stipe Q 7.5–7.7; base cylindrical, tapering; floccosity fibrillose; rooting no; mycelial chords no.

    Context: texture firm; stipe interior not recorded; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 13.0; smell raphanoid; taste raphanoid.
