Collection 1000368 (herbarium acc. no. MICH 10748) is Hebeloma marginatulum. It is the holotype of heterotypic synonym Hebeloma griseovelatum A.H. Sm., V.S. Evenson & Mitchel (1983).Description

Collection 1000368 was collected by A.H. Smith (86929) on 27th July 1976 in Pitkin, Independence Pass area, Colorado, UNITED STATES (approx. 39.1089°N, 106.5639°W, altitude approximately 3650 m above sea level - Google maps). No ectomycorrhizal plants were recorded.
The surrounding habitat was described as subalpine woodland with a substrate of soil, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules. Pileus: 20–25 mm diameter; shape umbonate; margin characters fibrillose, involute; viscosity tacky when moist; spotting not recorded; hygrophanous no; colour variation unicolor; with colour at centre sepia; and colour at margin not recorded; with remains of universal veil yes.
Lamellae: attachment adnate, decurrent tooth; maximum depth not recorded; number of complete lamellae 40; tears absent; white fimbriate edge not recorded.
Stipe: 30–40 x 3–5 {median} x 3–5 {basal} mm; stipe Q 8.0–10.0; base cylindrical; floccosity fibrillose, pruinose at apex; rooting no; mycelial chords no.
Context: texture firm; stipe interior hollow; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 13.9; smell none; taste none.
