Collecting details

Collection 18404 was collected by L. Davies on 20th October 2018 in Forest Resource Education Centre, Jackson, New Jersey, UNITED STATES (40.0957°N, 74.3226°W, altitude approximately 40 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Pinaceae (genus Pinus) was present.
The surrounding habitat was described as mixed pine-barrens with a substrate of grassy soil, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules. Cortina present: no.
Pileus: up to 22 mm diameter; shape umbonate; margin characters smooth; viscosity tacky when moist; spotting no; hygrophanous no; colour variation two-colour; with colour at centre cinnamon; and colour at margin pale pinkish buff; with remains of universal veil no.
Lamellae: attachment emarginate; maximum depth not recorded; number of complete lamellae 60; tears visible with naked eye; white fimbriate edge weak.
Stipe: 25 x 6 {median} x 6 {basal} mm; stipe Q 4.2; base cylindrical; floccosity pruinose; rooting no; mycelial chords no.
Context: texture firm; stipe interior not recorded; stipe flesh discolouring from base no; slenderness measure 4.7; smell none; taste not recorded.

Spores: shape amygdaloid, limoniform; colour through microscope yellow brown; guttulate yes; papillate yes; Spore Code: O2; O3; P1; D2; D3.
Basidia: 27.9–32.0 x 7.1–7.9 μm; ave. Q = 4.1; basidia spore nature not recorded.
Cheilocystidia: main shape clavate-lageniform or clavate-ventricose; special features not recorded; Cheilocystidia Ratios: A/M = 1.91; A/B = 1.30; B/M = 1.51.
Pleurocystidia: no.
