Collection 16444 was collected by A. Cappelli, det: E. Grilli (161101.01) on 1st November 2016 in Masserano, Piedmont, ITALY (approx. 45.584°N, 8.2288°E, altitude approximately 280 m above sea level - Google maps). No ectomycorrhizal plants were recorded.
The surrounding habitat was described as deciduous woodland with a substrate of soil and litter, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules. Lamellae: attachment adnate, adnexed; maximum depth up to 4 mm; number of complete lamellae 40; tears absent; white fimbriate edge present.
Stipe: 20–55 x 2–6 {median} x 2–10 {basal} mm; stipe Q 9.2–10.0; base bulbous, cylindrical; floccosity pruinose; rooting yes; mycelial chords no.
Context: texture firm; stipe interior stuffed; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 17.2; smell none; taste not recorded.
