Collection 12298 (herbarium acc. no. C JV-96-413) is Hebeloma birrus.

    Collection 12298 was collected by J. Vesterholt (96-413) on 5th November 1996 in Cipressata di S. Agnese, 12km east of Poggibonsi, Arezzo, Tuscany, ITALY (approx. 43.48°N, 11.23°E, altitude approximately 215 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal families Fagaceae (genus Quercus) and Pinaceae (genus Pinus) were present.

    The surrounding habitat was described as mixed, sloping woodland with a substrate of soil, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules.
