Collection 17338 was collected by N. Siegel (1858) on 25th August 2016 in Stetson Creek Trail, Cooper Landing, Alaska, UNITED STATES (approx. 60.4764°N, 149.8786°W, altitude approximately 150 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal families Betulaceae (genera Alnus and Betula), Salicaceae (genus Populus) and Pinaceae (genera Picea and Tsuga) were present.

The surrounding habitat was described as boreal .

According to the GPS data the collection was in the Pacific Coastal Mountain icefields and tundra WWF ecoregion The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) have divided the world into 867 terrestrial ecoregions. The ecoregion here is estimated by mapping from the GPS coordinates of the collection using data made available by Dinerstein et al (2017). Use this webtool to explore the ecoregions visually or see a full list of current ecoregions on Wikipedia. (biome: Tundra) and Koppen climate code Dsc (Cold, dry summer, cold summer).
