Collection 1000413 (herbarium acc. no. MICH 10758) is Hebeloma helodes. It is the holotype of heterotypic synonym Hebeloma kemptoniae A.H. Sm., V.S. Evenson & Mitchel [as "kemptonae"] (1983).

    Collection 1000413 was collected by V. Wells, P. Kempton (5143), det: A.H. Smith on 10th August 1971 in Anchorage, Abbott Road, Alaska, UNITED STATES (approx. 61.1375°N, 149.8054°W, altitude approximately 90 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Pinaceae (genus Picea) was present.

    The surrounding habitat was described as mixed woodland roadside verge with a substrate of grassy soil, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules.     Pileus: 15–30 mm diameter; shape convex, umbonate broadly; margin characters sulcate; viscosity tacky when moist; spotting no; hygrophanous no; colour variation two-colour; with colour at centre not recorded; and colour at margin not recorded; with remains of universal veil yes.

    Lamellae: attachment adnate; maximum depth up to 5 mm; number of complete lamellae 40; tears absent; white fimbriate edge weak.

    Stipe: 30–40 x 4–5 {median} x 4–5 {basal} mm; stipe Q 7.5–8.0; base cylindrical; floccosity floccose weak, pruinose; rooting no; mycelial chords no.

    Context: texture firm; stipe interior hollow; stipe flesh discolouring from base no; slenderness measure 12.8; smell none; taste not recorded.

    Basidia: 20.7–22.5 x 6.3–7.7 μm; ave. Q = 3.1; basidia spore nature not recorded.

    Cheilocystidia: main shape capitate-stipitate, clavate-stipitate, clavate-lageniform or clavate-ventricose; special features apical thickening; Cheilocystidia Ratios: A/M = 2.44; A/B = 2.96; B/M = 0.85.

    Pleurocystidia: no.
