    Collection 10883 was collected by J. Vesterholt (03-856) on 15th November 2003 in Castell'Umberto,prov. Messina, Area ecologica, Sicily, ITALY (approx. 38.08°N, 14.8°E, altitude approximately 580 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Fagaceae (genus Quercus) was present.

    The surrounding habitat was described as not recorded.

    Lamellae: attachment adnate, emarginate; maximum depth not recorded; number of complete lamellae 60; tears visible with x10 lens; white fimbriate edge weak.

    Stipe: 50 x 8 {median} x 9 {basal} mm; stipe Q 6.3; base clavate, cylindrical; floccosity pruinose at apex; rooting no; mycelial chords no.

    Context: texture firm; stipe interior not recorded; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 6.9; smell fruit, soap; taste not recorded.

    Cheilocystidia: main shape gently clavate, cylindrical, clavate-lageniform or clavate-ventricose, lageniform, ventricose; special features clamped septa, geniculate, sparse; Cheilocystidia Ratios: A/M = 1.46; A/B = 1.07; B/M = 1.42.
