Collection 12902 was collected by K.A. Thomas on 1st August 1999 in Wayanad district, Ponkhuzhy, Kerala, INDIA (approx. 11.6875°N, 76.3919°E, altitude approximately 850 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Dipterocarpaceae (genus Hopea) was present.
The surrounding habitat was described as montane, tropical woodland, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules.
