Collection 11859 (herbarium acc. no. C C-F-89925 (holotype), BR BR-MYCO 169127-56 (isotype)) is the holotype of Hebeloma parvicystidiatum.

Description

    Collection 11859 was collected by J. Vesterholt (06-1090) on 9th November 2006 in Cala Violina NW of Grosseto, Tuscany, ITALY (approx. 42.83°N, 10.77°E, altitude approximately 15 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Fagaceae (genus Quercus) was present.

    The surrounding habitat was described as deciduous woodland, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules. Please see this page for a full list of IUCN habitats. 1.4: Forest – Temperate.

    According to the GPS data the collection was in the Koppen climate code Csa (Temperate, dry summer, hot summer).

    Cortina present: no.

    Pileus: 20–37 mm diameter; shape convex; margin characters scalloped; viscosity tacky when moist; spotting no; hygrophanous no; colour variation two-colour; with colour at centre ochraceous; and colour at margin pinkish buff; with remains of universal veil no.

    Lamellae: attachment emarginate; maximum depth not recorded; number of complete lamellae 60; tears absent; white fimbriate edge weak.

    Stipe: 24–27 x 5–7 {median} x 5–7 {basal} mm; stipe Q 3.9–4.8; base cylindrical; floccosity pruinose; rooting no; mycelial chords no.

    Context: texture firm; stipe interior hollow, superior wick; stipe flesh discolouring from base no; slenderness measure 5.8; smell raphanoid; taste not recorded.

    Spore deposit colour: analysis not yet complete.

    Exsiccata: normal.

    Spores: shape amygdaloid; colour through microscope yellow brown; guttulate yes; papillate weak; Spore Code: O2; O3; P1; D4.

    Basidia: 26.6–34.3 x 7.8–9.6 μm; ave. Q = 3.6; basidia spore nature not recorded.

    Cheilocystidia: main shape clavate-lageniform or clavate-ventricose; special features septa, short; Cheilocystidia Ratios: A/M = 1.45; A/B = 0.83; B/M = 1.79.

    Pleurocystidia: no.

    Ixocutis: epicutis thickness (measured from exsiccata) 100 μm; ixocutis maximum hyphae width 5 μm; ixocutis hyphae encrustation yes; shape of trama elements beneath subcutis isodiametric.

    Caulocystidia: caulocystidia maximum length 75 μm.
