Taxonomy

Collection 1000134 (herbarium acc. no. PERTH 01012665) is Hebeloma aminophilum. It is the holotype of heterotypic synonym Hebeloma westraliense Bougher, Tommerup & Malajczuk (1991).

Description

    Collection 1000134 was collected by N. Bougher on 20th June 1988 in Floreat Park, Western Australia, AUSTRALIA (31.95°S, 115.8667°E, altitude approximately 25 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Myrtaceae (genus Eucalyptus) was present.

    The surrounding habitat was described as woodland with a substrate of decomposed litter, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules.     Pileus: 25–50 mm diameter; shape convex; margin characters smooth; viscosity tacky when moist; spotting no; hygrophanous no; colour variation unicolor; with colour at centre greyish buff; and colour at margin clay-buff; with remains of universal veil yes.

    Lamellae: attachment adnexed; maximum depth up to 5 mm; number of complete lamellae 28; tears absent; white fimbriate edge weak.

    Stipe: 25–40 x 8–12 {median} x not recorded {basal} mm; stipe Q not recorded; base clavate; floccosity fibrillose; rooting not recorded; mycelial chords not recorded.

    Context: texture firm; stipe interior not recorded; stipe flesh discolouring from base not recorded; slenderness measure not recorded; smell earthy; taste none.

    Spore deposit colour: umber.
