Collection 11977 was collected by H.J. Beker, M.L. Beker on 13th August 2007 in Bjorndalen, SVALBARD (78.2359°N, 15.3337°E, altitude approximately 25 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Salicaceae (genus Salix) was present.
The surrounding habitat was described as arctic tundra pastureland with a substrate of soil, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules. Cortina present: yes.
Pileus: 12–18 mm diameter; shape umbonate; margin characters smooth; viscosity tacky when moist; spotting no; hygrophanous no; colour variation two-colour; with colour at centre fuscous; and colour at margin dark pinkish buff; with remains of universal veil no.
Lamellae: attachment emarginate; maximum depth up to 3 mm; number of complete lamellae 41; tears absent; white fimbriate edge weak.
Stipe: 21–37 x 3–4 {median} x 3–4 {basal} mm; stipe Q 7.0–10.0; base cylindrical; floccosity fibrillose; rooting no; mycelial chords no.
Context: texture firm; stipe interior stuffed; stipe flesh discolouring from base yes; slenderness measure 17.0; smell raphanoid; taste not recorded.
