Collection 17852 was collected by A. Hunan on 2nd August 2018 in Weller lake Trail, Hwy 82, Pitkin County, White River Nat. Forest, Colorado, UNITED STATES (39.12°N, 106.723°W, altitude approximately 2860 m above sea level - Google maps). The ectomycorrhizal family Pinaceae (genus Picea) was present.
The surrounding habitat was described as subalpine woodland with a substrate of mossy soil, corresponding to the IUCN habitat We map from the collector's description of the habitat to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s definition using a standardised set of rules.
